There are 6 steps to winning the contest such as talent audition, ranking audition, team mission + casting audition, and battle + stage audition.
Talent audition is first step, so Contestants showcase their talent in singing or dancing or both, and must receive at least two of three passes from the judges(YG,JYP,SM or Antenna) to proceed to round two.
In ranking audition, there are contestants who passed round one were meeting with judges of their choice for further advice and help. The contestants are organized into different groups representing their strongest talent and the judges decide.
In team mission and casting audition, contestants form teams amongst themselves to perform for the judges, showing their possibilities when collaborating with others. Each teams compete with each other and each judges casting teams or members to their company directly. Then they can get training from real company.
Last step is fractionate contestants and making top 10 with battle of each other. Then Top 10 compete in the finals for the title of K-pop Star. The finals are broadcast live, in front of a live studio audience, lasting for nine weeks. The judges score each contestant, with a cumulative highest score of 300, as well as viewer voting online and through SMS, to determine the contestants score with the lowest scoring contestant eliminated.
The final winner will debut with the company of his or her choice (SM, YG, and JYP), along with a cash prize of three hundred million won(300,000 U.S. dollars), two brand new vehicles, opportunities to become commercial models and casting in dramas, and many more.
